A Life Without Music?

Unbearable.

Today’s question/prompt from the good folks at WordPress is above. This one really gets me where I live.

I’m not sure what I would do in place of listening to music. I always have something to listen to while creating. It’s not a huge stretch to wonder if the creativity would suffer. Most likely it would.

Last night, we attended a charity concert, Chords for Canines, a fundraiser for a Veteran founded and run organization. They train and provide service dogs to servicemen and women who have PTSD. Warhawk Service Dogs has placed 50 dogs in 20 states. It was wonderful! I believe the evening was a great success and hope the group has enough to train and place more dogs to benefit the mental health of many more veterans. Jason Birnstihl, Ione, and Jimmy Weber all sang individually and played. It was such a good time! We know Jimmy Weber from his performing in and around Omaha and Jason Birnstihl from Guitars for Vets. Ione is new to us. She has a lovely, powerful voice. She opened for Bon Jovi recently and has a glowing review from Jon himself. How cool!

Their finale was, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Yes, you read that correctly. Good call, gentlemen! It was perfect. Music is so healing.

Friends, there are many opportunities for each of us to lend support to organizations who support our veterans. They deserve it, as they are truly the reason we can still enjoy the freedoms we do. The Babe and I support Moving Veterans Forward, The 50 Mile March, Guitars for Vets, Operation 22 Til Freedom, and now, Warhawk Service Dogs. All support different aspects of a veteran’s life; housing, furniture, a community, structure. Also training, mental health care, guidance, and now, a specially trained service dog.

Kevin Doncaster is the local founder of Warhawk’s PTSD Service Dogs. Find him on Facebook and read the incredible story. Kevin’s daughter helps with the phones, and talks with veterans, first responders, etc. with her dad. That child is having a firsthand experience of how humans should treat each other and what we should do for each other. Blessings on them both, and Kevin’s dog, Lacey.

Join us. Volunteer for a legit organization which helps our veterans. They deserve it. See you tomorrow!
