Later Tuesday . . .

Good afternoon! It’s been a very busy day today here at the Home Office in Gretna, Nebraska. The day started at 6 a.m. and since I went to bed and didn’t watch television at all before I went to sleep; I was finally pretty well rested. It’s been a constant work on the computer day, social media for my author page, my publishing page, the VFW social media (Facebook) and establishing a presence for the VFW Auxiliary. Some of us determined to bring them to the 21st Century. We’ll get there.

And I’ve let you poor readers wait until now. Sorry! On the plus side, I am caught up with the social media for the Post, and should be able to blog earlier tomorrow. Back on schedule, I hope! It’s always something, isn’t it? Retired people are busier than when they worked, you know?

I’m sharing my breakfast with you from this morning, for you Keto folks. Even if you’re not, this was delicious! When the Babe and I started this way of eating, I didn’t want to have to go buy protein shakes. We were already drinking Ensure (Max Protein) before, with no sugar added, but with high protein. They’re good. Today, I used a Mixed Berry flavored one, a handful of frozen Berry medley, and BioTrust powder (not protein), but C8 MCT, a fuel source that is rapidly converted into Ketones. It’s a mental booster, increases energy and appetite management tool. I need the energy and boosted energy most days. Besides, I thought this would keep me awake longer today!

I also put a large handful of spinach in. I thought it would turn green, then so would I. No, using this with berries and a berry colored liquid, it stays purplish. It was so good. I haven’t been hungry all day, either. Just a note, I’m not compensated for sharing BioTrust with you. I bought it and thought someone else may use it. I like it, it doesn’t clump; it doesn’t get weird. You can use it in coffee, then it looks as if you have creamer in your coffee, and it tasted slightly sweet. In plain water, you barely know it’s there.

I think that about brings us up to speed with the Keto eating. I have lost 30 pounds, and can now wear 4 pair of Capris and 3 pair of jeans I couldn’t wear in October 2020, when we started this program. I’m not a mirror-gazer, and when I go past the hall mirror to do laundry or get something from the bedroom, I stop. I finally recognize myself again. I hope to keep the weight loss going. We’ll have to see how the Babe does, too. Of course the quarantine helped. We had to eat at home, which was good.

Thank you for taking the time to read today. I appreciate it so much. I will see you tomorrow, so be kind, be thoughtful, be your own truth. It’s something we all need to find. The world will be better. Until tomorrow.

Opening Day!

It’s opening day for baseball in our country. How exciting! All those teams with a bright, shiny, new season to play the best game ever invented. From what I understand, there will be limits to the sizes of the crowds, but at least some lucky people will be able to watch this All-American game. Finally! It’s a good sign, and I hope we’re deemed safe to play an entire season and are allowed to gather at stadiums across the country. Good luck, boys!

The weekend will be suitable for outside Easter Egg Hunt. Lucky kids! When my kids were little, we all still dressed up for Easter. The new outfit, shoes, socks, everything was a look ahead to the growth of spring and summer. In religious sects, it’s a look at Christ, dying for our sins, and His Resurrection from the dead. A lot of Churches will reopen for this huge religious feast. I remember thinking the nuns were crazy for telling us Easter is a bigger deal than Christmas. As we grew older, I understand that.

Spirituality plays a part in my life that extends way beyond a church building. The two people I admire the most were living examples to me of good Christians. They were my Grandma Jewell, and my dad, her oldest son. Dad had a lot of faith, and so did Grandma. She prayed for all of us, for the world, for the little children who don’t get enough to eat, and for anyone with problems. She was very humble. Once we were talking about my dad and his brothers, all who did well at their jobs. I asked Grandma, “You raised three accomplished men.” She said, “I cannot take credit for that, they did the hard work.” Very modest. And correct.

Our families will not be gathering this Easter. It’s hard to get everyone together, and sometimes someone has to work on the weekends or holidays. We’ll all text greetings and enjoy the time however we spend it.

I need to end this now, and wish you a Happy Holy Thursday. Thank you for reading, and I’ll see you tomorrow. Be Kind. Be Thoughtful. Be Safe out there!

Second Game, World Series

Hi, guys,

It’s quite late on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. 9:10 p.m., CDT. Second game of the World Series, bottom of the 5th, 2 outs, not looking good for the Dodgers. Well, maybe not so bad. It’s a commercial on TV right now, so who knows? We’ll see. One thing I remember really vividly is the old nuns at St. Bridget’s would ask if someone had a portable TV. Black and white, TV. I didn’t know what that was going on, but I learned quickly.

Turns out, some kids had one they could bring to school for us to watch the St. Louis Cardinals play against whomever, in the World Series. My family wasn’t into sports, but how I loved watching the Cardinals play in the World Series. It was magical. I think that may be when my interest in Major League Baseball started. That and Johnny Bauer and I would play ball in out backyard. Johnny was my brothers friend and age, but my brother didn’t do sports. Still doesn’t care about them, so I remember Johnny telling me about Whitey Ford and Roger Maris, wouldn’t you know I’d hear about Yankees the first time I heard of Major League Baseball? Of course. The Damned Yankees.

The old nuns loved Bob Gibson, and so did I. He was a pitcher for the Cardinals, from Omaha, and they always cheered for him. He was a great player, and awesome to watch I saw many games in black and white TV when I was in elementary school. I learned to cheer him on. It worked, right?

When my son loved the Cubs, I loved the Cubs. He learned to love them when my mom watched my kids while I worked. She took my kids to visit her sister and husband, and my Uncle Joe, a retired policeman, watched the games with my son. It was wonderful, my uncle saw them win a World Series in 2016, and passed away in 2018. I hope they win again before my son ever passes away. It would be fitting and right.

The score is not favoring the Dodgers tonight, and that’s ok. It’s only the second day, so a lot can happen. It’s ok. We’ll see what happens between now and then, the last game.

Have a beautiful rest of the evening. We’ll have more tomorrow, hope to see you then. Take care, be safe, and be kind. Thank you for reading, we’ll see each other tomorrow. Be safe, Be courteous, and e Kind. It’s the least we can expect from each other right now. See you tomorrow!
